Chapter 3: The Bad Kid
“Brother, aren’t there still two infected to experiment on?”
“Let’s postpone the experiments and head back.” We’ve already scavenged through all the remaining floors. With just two hours left before nightfall, we need to prepare dinner and check our traps and early warning systems before dark.
We spent quite some time dealing with that infected earlier, and there were some unexpected incidents. If we continue with the experiments now, we might not finish preparing before nightfall…
I can already foresee that another male infected person would also be interested in Rin’s body.
Although I’m not sure how it would react, I think I’ll call it a day for today.
I need to reflect on my actions…
Making my sister men (male infected) is indeed a bit too much.
Although Rin seemed indifferent and didn’t show any particular resistance, I could mostly guess that she wasn’t really willing deep down.
It was only because I asked her to do it that she went along.
Rin is very good at hiding her true feelings. To please me, she learned from scratch how to play the role of an obedient and lively little sister.
In reality, she has a relatively quiet and steady personality at school and even around other family members.
In fact, letting her hair down in straight black locks and quietly reading a book on the side is how most people perceive her.
Moreover, she dislikes being touched by others. Random physical contact makes her very angry, whether it’s from boys or girls—except for me.
“Brother, you’re spacing out again. Is something bothering you?” Rin leaned in close to me, her face filled with concern as she looked at me.
“It’s nothing, I was just thinking about something.” Rin looked quite cute with her hair tied in a ponytail, giving off the vibe of a girl who’d play basketball on the court—pretty, pure, and a little bit cool.
It suddenly occurred to me that Rin was quite athletic; she might actually play basketball at school. Plus, her figure was truly .
I suddenly feel a bit envious of the boys who get to be classmates with Rin. It’s just too bad there’s a six-year age gap between us.
If there had been a girl like Rin in my high school class, I would have definitely made my move without hesitation.
Although there’s a high chance of being politely rejected, ahem.
After returning to the temporary base, as per routine, I first checked all the security measures and made preparations for nightfall before heading to the innermost room to start preparing dinner.
Today’s haul was quite bountiful, so I decided to cook something special.
After organizing the pile of clothes she had collected, Ling changed into a more practical pair of women’s shorts and switched her top to a short-sleeved T-shirt—a newly acquired one today, featuring a cute cat design.
“There’s soup for dinner today.”
” Soup? That’s great!” Fresh is hard to come by unless you manage to catch wild rabbits or something similar. While canned food can be prepared in countless ways, boiling it in water becomes the most economical option since oil is too much of a luxury.
Corn soup paired with dehydrated rations, a bit of white rice, and some roasted sweet potatoes—this meal could be considered a feast in the post-apocalyptic world.
“Time to eat!”
“Wow! That looks delicious!” Watching Rin devour her food, I feel like today might not have been so bad after all.
Perhaps it was also out of guilt that I made such a lavish meal to compensate my sister. I didn’t have much appetite and only ate a little, leaving the rest for Rin.
It was rare for me not to fight with my sister over the last half of a baked sweet potato, which surprised her greatly.
After finishing the meal, the sky gradually darkened.
