Summer Night Breeze 11

Chapter 11: Just Let Him Know He’s the Grandson

Although Li Wei was seen dragging Xu Yannuo when they came in, and his expression wasn’t great, Xu Yannuo had always been quiet and didn’t seem like someone who would provoke Li Wei—a troublemaker who was impervious to reason and always looking for trouble. The two of them being in the same class was completely unrelated, like poles apart.

Xu Yannuo glanced at Li Wei and said, “It’s fine, teacher. He really did come to help me pick up the books.”

Li Linghua wanted to ask more, but the deafening pre-class bell rang. After the bell stopped, Li Linghua said to Xu Yannuo with some skepticism, “Alright, if there’s any problem, come find me after class.”

She then glared at Li Wei and said, “If there’s nothing else, hurry back to your seat,” before walking toward the lectern.

Then came a wave of hushed whispers in the classroom, followed by the ringing of the school bell. The entire class quieted down, bringing an end to the morning’s farce.

It was as if with the end of the class bell, everything that had happened that morning was washed away, as if no one had ever been bullied.

Xu Yannuo didn’t understand why Chen Ciyi was doing this, but she didn’t want to argue with him anymore. He knew too much about her weaknesses, and she just wanted to let things settle peacefully and quietly finish her high school life.

After all, even if she struggled and argued, what could someone like her possibly achieve?

But not long after class started, when she hadn’t made an issue of it, Chen Ciyi was the first to pass her a note: [Why didn’t you fight back?]

Xu Yannuo looked at the words on the note but still didn’t confront him about the eraser incident. [Satisfied? I won’t fight back. I don’t know what exactly you’re trying to do, but I just want to quietly finish high school. Please stop bothering me.]

After finishing writing, while Hua Jie was writing on the blackboard, Xu Yannuo pushed the note back to Chen Ciyi. Upon seeing it, he wrote again, and the note was passed back.

[“But I just want to know the answer!”]

Xu Yannuo looked at the handwriting on the note and didn’t reply further. Instead, to prevent others from seeing it, she tore the note into tiny pieces, wrapped them in another piece of paper, and placed it in her desk drawer, planning to throw it away after class.

After that, she focused on listening to the lecture.

Or perhaps, during the homeroom teacher’s class, she had to pretend to be paying attention.

This time, Chen Ciyi didn’t bother her anymore. Instead, he plugged in the earbuds hidden in his uniform sleeve, listening to something unknown.

When the bell rang, Li Linghua asked if anyone had any questions. Whether they understood or not, the entire class shouted in unison, “No!” Only then did Li Linghua leave the classroom. Before stepping out, she glanced once more at Li Wei’s direction, confirming he was behaving himself—chatting with the boy in front of him. She then looked at Xu Yannuo, ensuring she was fine, before finally leaving with her teaching materials.

The moment she stepped out, Li Wei stopped his conversation with the boy in front. He had been keeping an eye on “Sister Hua,” waiting for her to leave. Not that he intended to cause trouble for Xu Yannuo again—after all, she had shown a decent attitude in admitting her mistake earlier, hadn’t snitched on him, and even covered for him. Being someone who valued loyalty, he could choose to let her off this time.

But when he came back just now, he accidentally noticed the earphones peeking out from Chen Ciyi’s sleeve—they were the latest Apple model. Coincidentally, his own pair had broken that morning, so he could “borrow” Chen Ciyi’s.

Yesterday, he had briefly interacted with Chen Ciyi as a new classmate. After a simple self-introduction, Chen Ciyi just kept nodding with weak responses like “yes, yes” and “okay, okay…”—too scared to even speak properly. A bookworm who only knew how to study would be easy to manipulate.

During the break, Li Wei’s deskmate wasn’t around, so he didn’t have to circle around. He simply walked down the aisle straight to Chen Ciyi’s seat. Seeing Li Wei approach, Xu Yannuo got up and left the classroom to go to the restroom.

Chen Ciyi glanced at Li Wei, then looked towards Xu Yannuo’s retreating figure as he got up and left the classroom upon seeing Li Wei.

He really doesn’t want to cause any trouble in class at all!

As Chen Ciyi was watching, Li Wei, who stood in front of the desk, proudly remarked, “Are you really that scared of me? Leaving as soon as I arrive.”

Why is this guy still here?

Chen Ci withdrew his gaze and looked at Li Wei as if he were an idiot. “So she’s gone, why are you still standing here?”

Li Wei looked down at Chen Ciyi with a condescending expression. “Who said I was looking for her? She didn’t complain to me. I’m a generous person—consider the matter over. I came to find you.”

Chen Ciyi raised an eyebrow. “Oh, me?” How novel. Nowadays, anyone dared to come looking for him so casually, one after another.

“Go on,” Chen Ciyi said lazily, leaning back in his chair, with no intention of wasting words on idiots.

“Your headphones look nice, let me borrow them.”

Chen Ci couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the sight of that arrogant “hand over the headphones right now or I’ll make you regret it” expression on the guy’s face. Nowadays, not only could just about anyone come bother him whenever they pleased, but even some random idiot dared to casually threaten him too!

How refreshing.

Seeing Chen Ciyi not only failing to produce the earphones but also laughing right in front of him, Li Wei instantly flew into a rage. With a loud “smack,” he slammed his hand on Chen Ciyi’s desk. “Chen Ciyi, what the hell is your attitude? Think you’re something special, huh? Top student, I want your damn earphones!”

Still calling yourself “old man”??

Hah!

Chen Ci smiled as he took the earphones off his ears and handed them to Li Wei. “Here, take them if you dare. I won’t take your face—I’m scared, really scared!” After all, that face is just too damn ugly!

Li Wei walked away smugly with the earphones. After that, Chen Ci took out his phone and opened their small group chat—”Lonely 5 Missing 1 Crew.” What the hell kind of name is this? Who the fuck changed it to this bullshit!

Chen Ci ignored the ridiculous group name and sent a message in the chat.

Chen Ci: [I got robbed! What a surprise, what a shock!]

Instantly, Zhang Zhao: “Holy shit! Really? Who’s so blind? Hahahaha.”

Wang Sinan: “(Clapping) Never seen this before in my life, introduce me please”

Zhao Xu: “(Clapping) Introduce me too +1”

Qi Yang: “(Clapping) Introduce me too +1”

Chen Ci turned on the camera function, zoomed in on that idiot Li—whatever his name was, he’d forgotten again—and snapped a close-up of that dumb face before sending it to the group chat.

Zhang Zhao: [“This guy’s got some nerve!”]

Wang Sinan: [“Fuck! I love beating up cocky bastards.”]

Zhao Xu: [What kind of effect are you going for?]

Qi Yang: [“What got stolen? Need me to get double back for you?”]

Chen Ciyi: [“Earphones. Don’t bother—they’re dirty!”]

Chen Ciyi considered the consequences. Since they were classmates, and apart from showing off, the other party hadn’t done anything truly unforgivable, he decided not to intervene. After all, being too ruthless might make things awkward.

Who the hell wants your earphones!

Chen Ciyi: “No need to beat him up, just make him realize he’s a grandson.”

After replying, Chen Ci put away his phone, leaned back leisurely in his chair, slightly lowered his head, flipped through the textbooks on his desk, and took out the English book for the next class. Then, he pulled out the new question-type analysis he had bought recently and started working on it.
